The owner of Jardin del Eden from therapist to naturalist

Mick Lawrence (Founder of the Jardín del Edén)

As a child of the 60’s I grew up with a rebellious questioning attitude, never accepting an explanation that “It’s always worked like that”.

After studying Pure Mathematics and Chemistry at Hull University I moved into teaching Mathematics at a secondary school in London. By 1978 I had tired of teaching so decided to change my career and indulge my love of computer programming, which is what I continued until I also tired of the inefficiency in the NHS and finally retired

In 1992 I read a book on Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and realised that you can reprogram the mind as well as the computer. I studied with the originator of NLP, Richard Bandler and took Richard to India where I presented on stage with him. I continued my studies into Anatomy & Physiology, Aromatherapy, Geomancy, and finally Kinesiology where I feel I found the ultimate health paradigm.

Along the way of teaching Kinesiology my students and patients taught me that there appears to be other energies that can help and hinder our life and our life outcomes. After retirement I wanted a plan B to be able to be in a smaller more connected environment where people could benefit from my accumulated knowledge as well as continuing my Open University BSc degree in Health Science.

I decided on Boquete in Panama because it has an amazing retirement incentive, the temperature is a wonderful 24o C throughout the year and the land is rich and fertile.

Moving into a Bed & Breakfast and being able to start to become self-sufficient while helping locals with emotional, energetic and spiritual issue seemed to be a natural next step.

In the B & B we will focus allowing the guests to recharge their spiritual batteries as well as their physical batteries and will offer a range of therapies to suit their requirements. The breakfast will be made by the guest by picking fruit from the trees and eggs from the chicken coup. We will also have some extra healthy options to temp guests into healthy options.

Lucy Lawrence (Driving force of Mick)

I was born in East Malaysia and came to England in 1969 to continue my education and find a rewarding future. I worked in various book-keeping roles had two wonderful children and met Mick in 1987. I managed to tame him enough to allow us settle down in a house in London that was large enough for the whole family and room for his widowed mother.

In 2000 mick’s mother moved on to the next life and our children were organising their lives in other corners of the world. Our son with his wife and twins in Sydney Australia and our daughter with her husband and 2 children in Los Angeles, USA.

In 2000 it was time to downsize and we moved around the corner in Wandsworth to a smaller house. Mick and I have been keen followers of alternate medicines and alternate views from YouTube where we realised that the world appeared to be polarising into different fractions. We decided that we would be happier in a smaller town and friendlier people without the bustle of big city life.

When we went on our first Panama Relocation Tour we fell in love with the peacefulness and community spirit which is prevalent throughout Central America. I feel now in our later years that my role is to keep an eye on Mick and make sure it does not get too much trouble.

Looking forward to learning Spanish and meeting the ex-pats from the US.
